Ariadne is a global collective of women making social and political theatre to inspire change. We work with and connect women theatremakers stimulating political change in challenged societies, in order to avoid a repetition of the past. We cultivate hope by sharing our experiences, providing others with the tools to build on our practice and we create collaborative projects, amplifying our work and reaching diverse global audiences.

Ariadne Residency in Colchester, 2017!
Founded in 2014 by Susannah Tresilian, Ariadne was set up to bring together the bold, maverick women she has come across during her travels working abroad, and to create a platform that supports these women working in all aspects of theatre creation and builds their skills and experience. The network currently spreads across the following countries: Burundi, Palestine, Rwanda, Serbia, Sri Lanka and the UK.

And if we do act, in however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.”
